Bellingham Commercial Real Estate
The addition of Trader Joes to the Sunnyland Shopping Center and Fitness Gear Inc. to the Railroad Avenue area in downtown Bellingham will have a positive effect on Bellingham Commercial real estate.
Retail Tip Sheet: Sunnyland remodel due Aug.1 DAVE GALLAGHER
Things continue to be on track for the summer completion of the Sunnyland Shopping Center remodel on James Street.
John Arrigoni, a real estate representative for Sunnyland Properties said, "The remodel of the 40,000- square-foot shopping center is expected to be completed by Aug 1."
Trader Joe’s, the specialty grocery store that will be moving into the former Red Apple supermarket space, should be open sometime after Aug. 1, but an exact date hasn’t been set.
Improvements to the shopping center include adding a clock tower and completely remodeling the shell of the 42-year-old shopping center.
Arrigoni said he doesn’t have other tenant announcements at this point, but he is talking to several local and national companies.
There has been a fair amount of interest from a lot of businesses but we’re still working on signing them,” Arrigoni said.
FITNESS STORE ON THE MOVE NEXT MONTH
Memorial Day weekend is always a little crazy for local businesses during the Ski to Sea event but it should be a little extra busy for the folks at Fitness Gear Inc.
Fitness Gear will be moving into its new, bigger space at 1423 Railroad Ave. (near Cicchitti’s Pizza) during that weekend and plans to be open in June. "The 5,500-square foot space will allow the retail equipment store to add a private training studio and personal trainers," said manager Zac Palmer.
"We believe there is a wide-open market for this area when it comes to fitness training, and adding a studio relates well to our retail store,” Palmer said. “It also gives people an opportunity to get familiar with the equipment we sell.”
The move means yet another addition to the 1400 block of Railroad Avenue, an area that had several empty retail spaces a year ago.
'That part of downtown was very appealing to us because of all the remodeling that has been taking place,” Palmer said. “I’ve been impressed with how much downtown Bellingham has changed; it’s a booming part of town right now.” |
